Meet our charity trustees

Our trustees volunteer their time to provide strategic direction and governance to the charity as members of the Board of Trustees, each bringing a unique set of skills to the role.

Sue Lomas OBE DL

Chair
She/Her

Sue, an education consultant and Associate Lecturer at MMU’s PGCE Geography program, passionately strives for quality in young people’s education. She proudly serves as Deputy Lieutenant of Greater Manchester.

Sally Carr MBE

Deputy Chair
She/They

Sally, a UK and European Youth and Community Worker for 40+ years, earned an MBE in 2012 for supporting vulnerable LGBT+ youth. With an intersectional identity, she’s an anti-oppressive practitioner, LGBTQ+ pioneer, and National Youth Agency Trustee influencing policy. Sally leads in advancing Youth Work’s therapeutic value.

Jim Cooke

Treasurer

Jim joined the Youth Focus North West Board in 2021, offering 16 years of expertise in charities dedicated to reducing inequality and advancing social justice. He currently leads the Funders’ Collaborative Hub at the Association of Charitable Foundations, coordinating grant-makers’ responses to the Covid-19 impact.

Will Adams

He/Him

A former youth representative and campaigner, Will has worked in various organisations across the private, public and charity sector to ensure the voices of young people/adults are heard by decision makers. He currently works in digital marketing and ensures the charity’s online presence is up to scratch.

Dr Rajesh Patel

Trustee
He/Him

Rajesh, a senior lecturer in youth and community work, draws from 25 years of practical experience in Greater Manchester and West Yorkshire. He specialszes in creativity, partnership learning, arts-based practices, and working with Black and minority youth. His research centres on creative approaches with young people.

Colin Scicluna

Trustee
He/Him

Colin, with 15+ years in the youth sector, advocates for youth work’s transformative potential. He aims to contribute his expertise in youth service design and management to keep Youth Focus NW at the forefront of engaging stakeholders innovatively.
