Youth Focus NW Board announces changes and is recruiting for 3 new trustees

Youth Focus North West announces New Chair, Vice Chair and Treasurer and seeks three new Trustees:

Youth Focus North West (YFNW) is an organisation with strong youth work roots. We work with partners and young people across 23 Local Authority areas to promote and support youth work and services for young people. We think that working with young people and engaging them in civic activity improves their lives and benefits wider communities. Our youth voice work gives young people opportunities to have a voice where it counts across the North West and beyond.

We believe that we enable North West young people to make a difference. Recent achievements include:

-supporting the pioneering Youthforia where young people run their own forums to debate and plan issues for wider discussion including at the UK Youth Parliament (achieving the highest regional turnout in the associated Make Your Mark ballot for the fifth year running).

-Helping the Greater Manchester Combined Authority to develop and run its Youth Combined Authority where young people have a direct input to sub-regional and mayoral policy.

-Complementing our partnership with United Utilities in developing our Pioneers of Sustainable Hope Scheme (POSH).

(for more information on what we do and our impact please see our attached Theory of Change, Impact Report and Membership Offer)

YFNW is a charitable company limited by guarantee and governed  by a Board of Trustees. YFNW is lead by a Chief Executive Officer, supported by a Deputy CEO, Business Manager and Development Officers. We are looking to recruit Trustees who can enhance our work by bringing life experience and/or expertise that enhance our reach, knowledge and work. YFNW has a firm commitment to strengthening the diversity of our workforce/board, and therefore welcome and encourage applications from likeminded people who can support our ambition to become effortlessly inclusive. We are particularly keen to hear from protected groups including people who have experienced racism, LGBT and people with a disability. In addition, we are looking for expertise in a number of areas that include Legal, Human Resources, and Business Development and would also welcome people with a commercial background.

Under no circumstances shall any of the following serve on the Board of Directors:

(a)        Persons aged under sixteen years;

(b)        Persons who are bankrupt or who are otherwise disqualified by law from serving as company directors;

(c)        Persons who have an unspent conviction involving dishonesty or deception, or who are otherwise disqualified by law from serving as charity trustees.

We expect that the time commitment will average 5 hours per quarter.  The roles are unpaid voluntary positions.  Board meetings take place digitally or at our office base in St Helens, reasonable expenses will be paid.

The closing date for applications is Tuesday 15th December 2020 after which time the selection process will commence.

Applications will be shortlisted and recommendations will be made to the board for ratification and appointment in January.
